With registration now open for Wood Pro Expo - it
takes place October 19-20 in Pennsylvania, at the
newly remodeled Lancaster Host Expo Center -
show planners have firmed up the accompanying
The Lancaster Host venue is intended to let
woodworkers schedule minimal time out of the
plant in order to find the latest technology and
materials. A rich educational component covers
key trends and best practices in shop operations.
Wood Pro Expo regional shows bring
education, equipment, and supplies close to
cabinetmakers and custom woodworkers around
the country, including Charlotte in February 2018.
In Lancaster, perennial favorite Will Sampson,
editor of FDMC magazine and widely known for
his In the Shop demos and FDMC Pricing Survey,
will keynote October 19 at 8:00 a.m.,, the opening
day of the show with his presentation, “Seven Ways
Woodworkers Can Improve Their Businesses.”
On October 20 at 8:00 a.m., Lean Management
expert Mike Roth, CEO, of Go-Lean-Six Training,
keynotes with “Jump Starting Your Lean Journey”
on the eight steps of Value Stream Management.
The talk will be relevant to woodworkers big or
small, wherever they are on their lean journey.
Lunch and learns on sawdust control and
finishing are planned. Also new this year: talks by
hardwood specialist Criswell Davis; a presentation
on Knot & Ore, a new Lancaster furniture
manufacturing launch producing contemporary
designs with traditional Amish craftsmanship;
custom woodworker Matt Buell of M.Buell Design
will offer tips on amping up templated routing in
“Router Template Maniac.” The Cabinet Makers
Association plans a forum on CNC Tips & Tricks.
CMA has also planned a pre-show event, with a
regional meeting and plant tours on October 18.
