Producing 500 dovetail drawer boxes a day
Omec dovetail equipment helps CalDoor launch its drawer-manufacturing operation.
CalDoor purchased five complete Omec produc- tion lines for the company’s new box facility in Morgan
Hill, California, including CNC dovetail
machines, automatic glue machines and
CalDoor’s Ed Rossi said that this is a
new plant and this is the first time the
company is making drawer boxes.
The new plant was designed to produce 1,000 boxes a day in one shift. Rossi
said that the new operation has been
open about 18 months and they are currently producing a little more than 500
boxes a day.
“They are configured as assembly
lines being feed by a Weinig automatic
chop saw with 10 kick-out stations ca-
pable of cutting around 1,500 boxes a
day so we have a lot of room to grow,”
The Omec equipment provides
centered dovetails and the ability to
change to custom dovetails on the fly, an

These drawer boxes were constructed of beech and show off the dovetail joints with high contrast.
