Mike Holmes Jr. opening
keynote to kick off WMS
Morning keynotes will open classroom and show floor
TV star and professional con- tractor, Mike Holmes Jr. will be the opening keynote of the Woodworking Machinery
& Supply Conference and Expo (WMS)
at the International Centre, October 31
to November 2.
“We’re excited to have Mike aboard
as our Day 1 keynote,” says Harry Urban,
Manager of WMS.
“We have been thoroughly impressed
by Mike’s TV shows, which are dedicated
to quality construction and ‘making
things right,’ along with his commitment
to the trades and education in Canada.”
His profile is right in line with our strong
commitment to getting the younger generations involved in the industry.
Holmes is a professional contractor,
television host, public speaker, educator,
and Healthy Home advocate.
Currently he is filming Holmes and
Holmes Season 3, where he works with
his dad to rescue homeowners from
shoddy contractor jobs and DI Y projects
gone bad. Holmes is also one of the stars
of HGTV’s hit show Home to Win.
Will Sampson to keynote Day 2
FDMC Editor and renowned speaker,
Will Sampson, will keynote Day 2 of
WMS on November 1 at 9 a.m. His pre-
sentation, “Solving the pricing puzzle,”
will address the perennial pricing issue
facing woodworking companies. Learn if
you are charging the right price for your
work and what other shops charge for
the same work, fundamentals of pricing
custom work, and common pitfalls to
avoid in your pricing process.
In addition to the morning keynotes,
WMS will feature educational sessions
on lean, finishing, and business man-
agement. The Architectural Woodwork
Manufacturers Association of Canada
(AWMAC) will present a session titled,
“How to Produce NAAWS Compliant
Shop Drawings Every Time.”
Luncheon keynote presentations by
Luke Elias, President, Muskoka Cabinet
Co. and Daniel Drapeau, CEO, Miralis
Cabinet are also planned.
New this year will be education on the
show floor, titled, WMS Live, which will
be held adjacent to the exhibits in Hall 2
and will feature complementary presentations by the show’s exhibitors.
