Child Studio’s globe-shaped lamps appear to be frozen in time – caught in the midst of sliding down colored and lacquered ash bases. According to the designers, Chieh Huang and Alexey Kostikov, who launched Child Studio earli- er this year, the In the Shadow of a Man collection draws inspiration from European surrealist paint- ings of Giorgio de Chirico and from experimental
theater director and artist Robert Wilson, who
also often works with surreal imagery and sets.
“The ambiguous scale and striking silhouettes
