Trade war, new kind of
casework prevail online
As the China-U.S. trade tension escalates, a new kind of casework could be on the rise.
The trade war between the U.S. and China intensified again September 24, as the Trump Administration announced another $200 billion
in tariffs on Chinese imports. The new
round of tariffs – initially at a rate of
10 percent – will increase to 25 percent
on January 1. This brings the total
value of Chinese tariffs to $250 billion.
That’s around half of all of the Asian
country’s exports to the U.S. China has
threated to retaliate with $60 billion in
tariffs of their own.
Next up this month was an article,
written by former Stiles VP Stephan
Waltman, about a potentially new kind
of casework: ready-to-assemble – commercial. Waltman notes a shift from
traditional joinery to mechanical
fasteners, despite many IWF attendees
saying there was no need for a transition. Waltman says the shift isn’t about
the factory – it’s about the client experience.
A short movie about Koetter Wood-
working was next up this month. The
“Sawdust in our Blood” cinematic,
which took three months to produce,
shows Koetter’s wide range of capa-
bilities, with segments on technology,
transportation, and the company’s
envisionIT design tool. Production en-
compassed 13 days of filming and three
months of post-production. ;
