Challengers winners named at IWF
The seven most innovative woodworking products were honored at this year’s IWF.
Winners of the 2018 Chal- lengers Distinguished Achievement Award were announced Aug.
22 during the International Woodworking Fair. The Challengers Award
promotes the development of innovative new technology in woodworking
machinery, supplies, and services for the
furniture, kitchen cabinets, architectural
woodwork, store fixture, upholstery,
or specialty and general wood product
Selected from a field of 23 finalists,
the 2018 award-winning companies and
products are below:
Doucet Machineries’ ALYX is an au-
tomated clamp carrier loader system for
high volume gluing application, panel
preparation, and loading and unloading
of the machine. The complete cycle time
for one loading and glue application
sequence is estimated at 80 seconds or
less with only one operator at the panel
preparation position, another partial
operator is managing the material
input and output. The company says the
ALYX’s modular design allows it to be
added to an existing clamp carrier or to
be integrated in Doucet’s SRX hydraulic
Doucet Machinery’s ALYX automated clamp loader system captured a Challenger Award.
Shaper Origin, the first hand-held CNC router, won one of the seven Challenger Awards presented at IWF in Atlanta for 2018.
