RFID chips can contain a 3-D model with the exact geometry and dimension of the tool, so machine software can
simulate machining, ensuring safety during tool changes, and
preventing crashes due to incorrect programming. Process-specific data can be kept as part of the tool data, facilitating
set-up, increasing spindle up-time and decreasing waste.
To be successful, tool, machine, measuring instruments,
sharpening equipment, and data must work together. Starting
with tools with chips or QR codes installed on machines, the
machine reads and uses running parameters and programming data. Alerts are sent to mobile devices when problems
arise. Maintenance and repair events are recorded, including
any changes in specifications or service instructions. Updated
tool specifications are read by the software on the machine,
and the cycle starts over. Key information can be synchronized with the company ERP system. And, we can monitor
this entire process with a simple app.
